Prayer
Father God,
Forgive us where we fail you. Instill in us a righteous fear of You, Father. Correct us, grow us, strengthen us. May Your will be done in our lives. In Jesus’ name. Amen

The Days of Elijah
This week we began a new series studying the life and ministry of Elijah as revealed in 1 Kings. If you missed Sunday’s introduction, you can catch up on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/cometothecreek/live.

As I said Sunday, this study was supposed to be a one message look at the life of Elijah. God has impressed on my heart as I’ve studied that this message needs to be a more in depth look at the incredible way in which God moved in the life of this faithful prophet.

In just a few short chapters in the Scripture we see both the extraordinary, miraculous mountain top experiences of this lonely prophet as well as some incredible valleys. Elijah had God provide for him in miraculous ways yet he struggled with deep depression, doubt, and fear. Elijah is a picture of so many of us in so many ways.

I hope over the next few weeks to unpack this truth: God is faithful and keeps His promises even when times are tough. It should comfort us to know that even mighty men of God struggled with some of the very things we are struggling with now. Why? Because God can use us just like He used Elijah. It wasn’t about Elijah, it was about the incredible God he served…

If you are a true follower of Jesus, that is the wonder working God of impossible that you serve too. I hope you’ll join us as we look at the incredible moments that God led Elijah through. Whatever you do, remember this truth: God isn’t done with you yet (see Philippians 1:6).

No Sweat Evangelism
As a church, we are committed to seeing people come to know Jesus as Lord and Savior. We are committed to fulfilling the Great Commission by making disciples and teaching them all that Christ has commanded (see Matthew 28:16-20). On Sunday October 9th at 6PM we will be hosting a special night of evangelism training called No Sweat Evangelism. Bro. Steve Foster, an Evangelism Consultant with the Georgia Baptist Mission Board, will be joining us to lead us through this special session.

In this training, you will:
1. Learn a simple plan to share the gospel with people in your circle of influence.
2. Learn how to pivot from everyday conversations to gospel conversations.
3. Be motivated as you learn the biblical view of being on mission with God.

With Thanksgiving and Christmas right around the corner, this will be an incredible way for you to learn to be more effective at sharing the Gospel with those you love the most. You can visit https://nosweatevangelism.com/plugandplay/ to view a list of resources, videos, printable guides, and more that are associated with this program. Please make plans to attend this special night and bring a friend!

Missions/Community Outreach
From Melody Lamb: Steve and I are planning a trip to Nairobi, Kenya for February 16-25, 2023. We are excited about this opportunity. My brother and his wife have been there for over 10 years and we look forward to this chance to be a part of their ministry. We will have approximately 8 days on the ground there in Nairobi. We will participate in the work my brother and sister in law are doing there, as well as some time for recreation and sightseeing. Any funds raised will be used to help defray the cost of the trip and take supplies needed and help in building projects. Thank you for partnering with us. Here’s the link to GiveSendGo – Lambs to Kenya. Thank you!

We are incredibly excited about our partnership with Operation Christmas Child and the 300 shoeboxes we are packing as a church this year! On average it takes about 10 items to fill each box. These items aren’t a random collection of gifts but a carefully selected assortment of items like personal hygiene items, school supplies, toys, and other fun gifts.
For the month of September we are collecting:
300 bars of soap
300 washcloths
50 sticks of male deodorant
50 sticks of female deodorant
You can drop off your items in the fellowship hall in our special OCC drop-off bin. Get in touch with Amber if you have any questions.

We believe in the power of prayer. How can we pray for you?
Please visit https://cometothecreek.com/contact/ to submit your prayer request. You can also submit your request to prayer@cometothecreek.com.

In His Service,

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. For our God is a consuming fire. (Hebrews 12:28-29 NKJV)
