Prayer
Father God, we lift up our new Pastor, Daniel Higginbotham. We ask You to anoint him anew and continue to pour the only Truth, that is Your Word, through him. Please bless and protect Daniel, Amber and their children in every way. We are so grateful, Father, that You hear and answer our prayers. We want You to be well pleased with us, Father. We ask in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Looking to the Future
On behalf of Amber, Kasen, Abigail, Hudson, Annabelle and I, thank you. Thank you for your prayers, encouragement, and support over the last year. Thank you for how you have loved our family. We are incredibly excited about all God has and is doing at Shoal Creek Baptist Church.

As you’ve called our family to serve in this role, I want you to know we are committed to serving Jesus and each of you. As your pastor I am committed to seeking God’s will and walking with each of you as He continues leading us as a church.

My deepest hope is to see us continue to grow as a church who takes the Great Commission to the heart of every prayer we pray and everything we do. My prayer in this moment is that we would be intentional, passionate, and devoted to evangelism and discipleship.

As we move forward, please be praying for the deacons and I along with our wives and families. Pray that God would continue to equip, strengthen, encourage, and lead us in unity. We remain committed to trusting the Holy Spirit to create a healthy, thriving fellowship of Christ followers. Today I pray you’ll join me in being committed to loving God, loving each other, and loving our community.

Thank you for being engaged in the mission of Jesus Christ at Shoal Creek. If you need prayer, have a question or other need, please email me at daniel@cometothecreek.com.

The Days of Elijah
This past Sunday we entered week two of the series, The Days of Elijah. If you missed week two, catch up on Facebook at facebook.com/cometothecreek/live.

I am confident that this current series is a reminder to God’s people and how we are called to respond in the dark days we find ourselves in. In times like these, I want to remind you of an incredible promise from Scripture: The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. (John 1:5 ESV) No matter how dark the world becomes, the hope of Jesus Christ is sure. No matter how powerful the evil may seem, Jesus has already won the victory.

May it be said about us that we are people of steadfast faith. May we trust God even when everything seems to be falling apart. May we trust that the God of impossible is working all things together for our good and His glory (see Ephesians 3:20-21 and Romans 8:28). Even when we don’t know that tomorrow holds, let us trust the One who holds tomorrow.

No Sweat Evangelism
As a church, we are committed to seeing people come to know Jesus as Lord and Savior. We are committed to fulfilling the Great Commission by making disciples and teaching them all that Christ has commanded (see Matthew 28:16-20). On Sunday October 9th at 6PM we will be hosting a special night of evangelism training called No Sweat Evangelism. Bro. Steve Foster, an Evangelism Consultant with the Georgia Baptist Mission Board, will be joining us to lead us through this special session.

In this training, you will:
1. Learn a simple plan to share the gospel with people in your circle of influence.
2. Learn how to pivot from everyday conversations to gospel conversations.
3. Be motivated as you learn the biblical view of being on mission with God.

With Thanksgiving and Christmas right around the corner, this will be an incredible way for you to learn to be more effective at sharing the Gospel with those you love the most. You can visit https://nosweatevangelism.com/plugandplay/ to view a list of resources, videos, printable guides, and more that are associated with this program. Please make plans to attend this special night and bring a friend!

Please Pray About Supporting this Mission
From Melody Lamb: Steve and I are planning a trip to Nairobi, Kenya for February 16-25, 2023. We are excited about this opportunity. My brother and his wife have been there for over 10 years and we look forward to this chance to be a part of their ministry. We will have approximately 8 days on the ground there in Nairobi. We will participate in the work my brother and sister in law are doing there, as well as some time for recreation and sightseeing. Any funds raised will be used to help defray the cost of the trip and take supplies needed and help in building projects. Thank you for partnering with us. Here’s the CORRECTED link to GiveSendGo – Lambs to Kenya. Thank you!

We are incredibly excited about our partnership with Operation Christmas Child and the 300 shoeboxes we are packing as a church this year! On average it takes about 10 items to fill each box. These items aren’t a random collection of gifts but a carefully selected assortment of items like personal hygiene items, school supplies, toys, and other fun gifts.
For the month of October we are collecting:
30-Sewing kits (Dollar Tree – $1.25)
50- Fishing kits (hooks, line and bobbers in medicine bottles or something compact)
Toys (Barbie dolls, tennis balls, dominoes, play doh, deflated soccer balls with needle and pump)
We CANNOT have any army men, camo, liquid items (like bubbles), no weapons (play knives, guns) or candy in the shoeboxes

You can drop off your items in the fellowship hall in our special OCC drop-off bin. Get in touch with Amber if you have any questions.

We believe in the power of prayer. How can we pray for you?
Please visit https://cometothecreek.com/contact/ to submit your prayer request. You can also submit your request to prayer@cometothecreek.com.

In His Service,
