Prayer
Heavenly Father,
We ask Your blessing on Shoal Creek Baptist Church. We pray the next chapter of the life of this church will be the most evangelical in this church’s history. Our desire is that all will be saved who enter this house of prayer. Help us to honor You in all we do and empower us to reach many for You. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
The Upcoming Holidays
As your Interim Pastor it is important for me to always be honest and transparent. I know first hand that life can be full of distractions, detours, trials, and setbacks. I’ve noticed over the years that as we’ve become more connected, it has become easier than ever to be distracted. I struggle with this same balance as a husband, dad, and servant of God.
We are entering one of the busiest times of the year. School is back in full swing, Thanksgiving and Christmas are right around the corner, and college football has started back! Let me pause and say, go Dawgs! Between meals, parties, gatherings, special services, and an array of activities, there are even more distractions this time of year. Oh, did I even mention Christmas shopping!?
Here is my point, don’t lose focus. God is doing something special in our midst, let us keep faithfully following where He leads. Let’s slow down long enough to intentionally notice others. Can I share a secret? This time of year is not joyful for everyone. For some, this time of year is a painful reminder of lost loved ones, lonely nights, and the pain of broken families. I want to challenge you to prayerfully seek God’s guidance on how you can love others in a purposeful, meaningful way this holiday season.
111 days from today we will celebrate Christmas Day. This holy day is a reminder that God didn’t leave us alone in the broken, sinful mess we created. As Christ stepped into our world to bring hope, let us rejoice in and share that hope each day. Don’t wait for Christmas day to celebrate. Let every day be a reminder that God sent His beloved Son into this world so we would never have to be alone again.
The Ekklesia
As we concluded our series about the Church that Jesus Built, I pray God challenged you and blessed you throughout our time together. If you missed a week you can catch up on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/cometothecreek/live.
Over the next few weeks we will be preparing to enter into a new series titled: His Coming. This series will look at the promised second coming of Jesus Christ, and I hope this will be an urgent call to embrace the Great Commission like never before.
Please be sure to join us on September 11th for our special Sanctuary rededication event. On September 11th I’ll be preaching a message about the unchanging, unfading, unfailing God of impossible.
I’m going to be preaching a special message on the battle against depression, anxiety, and the horrors of suicide on September 18th. Please invite any friends or family who may be struggling with this in their own life.
MARK YOUR CALENDAR:
Wednesday, September 7, 6:30pm – Bible study
Because we believe the Bible is given by God for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16-17), Bible study is an important part of our ministry. Wednesday night Bible study is available each week at 6:30PM. We will be studying the book of Matthew.
Wednesday, September 7, 8:00pm – Worship Practice
Friday, September 9 from 6:00pm – Dalton’s Greater Works
The second Friday of every month, a group of us meet to travel to Greater Works in Dalton to serve a meal and have a time of prayer and teaching with our friends in Dalton, GA. Anyone from the church is always welcome to join this event too!
Saturday, September 10, 10am – Men’s Prayer Breakfast/Fellowship
All the men of Shoal Creek Baptist Church are invited to join us at the church for the monthly Men’s Prayer Breakfast. During this time we will share breakfast, pray together as a group, and have a time of Bible study. Please contact Tim Olson for additional details.
Saturday, September 10, 1:00pm – Rededication review meeting. Meet at the church sanctuary for a final meeting to discuss the order of service, responsibilities, final details, etc.
Sanctuary Rededication. Join us September 11th, 2022 at 11am as we remember the history of Shoal Creek Baptist Church and celebrate where God is taking us.
There will be no Adult Sunday School or Sunday Night Discipleship on Sunday the 11th.

Community Outreach
We are incredibly excited about our partnership with Operation Christmas Child and the 300 shoeboxes we are packing as a church this year! On average it takes about 10 items to fill each box. These items aren’t a random collection of gifts but a carefully selected assortment of items like personal hygiene items, school supplies, toys, and other fun gifts.
For the month of September we are collecting:
300 bars of soap
300 washcloths
50 sticks of male deodorant
50 sticks of female deodorant
You can drop off your items in the fellowship hall in our special OCC drop-off bin. Get in touch with Amber if you have any questions.
We believe in the power of prayer. How can we pray for you?
Please visit https://cometothecreek.com/contact/ to submit your prayer request. You can also submit your request to prayer@cometothecreek.com.
In His Service,
Michele Olson
But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior. (Titus 3: 4-6 NKJV)
